And where is Zack Marshall?
Seems to me about 95% of pre-NFL teams don't have the advantages Rutgers has; OK, maybe 90. They are terrible, seemingly with or without the injuries. Three out of twelve passing for the whole game (plus the 2-pointer) is never going to cut it.
Them guys aren't dumb although incompetent may still be fitting. They are looking for an athletic director. He or she's main job descriptor will be as a sounding board. If you people want to send the whole clan back to Utah on a wagon who is going to pay all this money? Because, goddamit, they could buy an airplane!
The whole aura of Kyle Whittingham is so distasteful I don't even want to talk about the team. I'd much rather talk about the scary-weird culture, and I'll get to that.
Nonetheless, my two cents about the game is Tommy Carr is the better QB now. No turnovers, excellent stats, good field awareness and keeping plays alive, plus timely running; very positive running yards and sacks are included. When I look rhino seems to be intentional deception that serves no purpose. JJ and Marsh are good and spreading it around helps too; had to happen, Jordan Marshall tries hard but. Well, it isn't the same defense without Dom Nichols and John Henry Daley (or Rod Moore). Blame the weightlifting or coaching? There seem to be a lot of injuries. Summary: Carr and the receivers saved the day. A beautiful day with empty seats...
Why are some coaches able to create a winning, successful, and happy team and others cannot? Of course blame the coaches. Correction: blame the coach.
This is a culture clash. Big city ways, per Doc Hollywood. Urbz brought them to Utah and Whittingham reversed that by migrating to Ann Arbor. KW is a tad younger than I am and he is not going to change, or succeed. The 8-0 Utes and fans must be celebrating. Put simply, this could well be the most talented team he will ever have at Michigan and if Jay Hill leaves and Jason Beck gets locked in a padded room he will not be able to rebuild.
The problem isn't just that the team is bad, it is that he is an embarrassment. "I don't know," his trademark, is not an answer.
RE Bryce Underwood, will someone else pay him $3 million a year? Why not.
Kyle Whittingham is in way over his head. Ditto Pat Fitzgerald. They are both very bad hires and are way overpaid. It sure seems like you could promote someone or find someone somewhere to promote who would do just as well for a lot less money and with a lot more enthusiasm. The contracts and buyouts are ridiculous. I really wonder about these contracts... Why not just say we're going to keep paying you unless you quit but your new role is ballboy because you are inept. Another option? Let Whittingham pay Beck's buyout.
State is up next. Dull. I didn't even download and watch the Rutgers game again and I'll expand my previous theory:
Bad teams have a way of looking bad even when they win.
