Michigan 64 Florida 49

This game was a really pleasant surprise.  It was close but very much lose-able.

Then, late in the game and Michigan still had a lead of about 10, virtually every Florida possession resulted in a missed shot (Michigan rebound) or steal.  We've seen it before, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and other Big Ten teams missing shot after shot against Michigan.  In response, Michigan remains aggressive in terms of blocks, steals, and rebounds.  Eventually, the other team virtually gives up.

Unless they have a serious 3-pt attack--Villanova last year and Michigan State this year--the other team cannot catch up.  If they are good they might be able to stay even, make it a close game, and Michigan could lose.

For Florida someone or several players were swishing 3's in the first half but that stopped.

It was an outstanding performance by Michigan.  It was close at first but not at the end.

Poole, love him or hate him, was a difference-maker.  Teske is/was a massive, no pun intended, weapon.  Simpson, as always, led the win.

So he is a clenched fist.  He used to have a "cherubic" side too.

Game Notes

Close game, will they pull it out?

One or two guys from Florida are hitting 3's.  And when Teske is out Florida kills (either small or Casltton).

Iggy aggressive and good; Simpson, ditto.

Jordan Poole a couple of good shots but otherwise really bad, offense and defense.

Michigan wouldn't be here if not for Simpson.  But is this it, is this the end?

It is really a bad situation when Teske leaves the game.

Second half.  Great run and Teske comes out and...

Boom!

What does apoplectic mean.  Jordan Poole is an essential scorer for the thin Wolverines, but he  apoplectic (I'll look it up later).

I just saw a play where he stood there either pouting or waiting for an official while Florida took it to the hoop and scored.  Earlier he almost dropped a simple outside pass for a turnover.

CORRECTION:  Jordan Poole is not apoplectic.  I had a better feeling about the game when he got in a teammate's face; he was engaged, he just does not show it in normal ways.
