The football season sure is short, but there is news year-round.
The Oregon OC to UCF—some act faster than others. Mark Richt did nothing for me (as a UGA grad). The also-rans tend to stay with also-rans and a stingy two-year $1.2 mil per year contracts (Illinois). The governor blessed Les Miles after a win.
The all-knowing are out already, but why can’t they write? There is closeness and experience, so… depth, qb, linebacker, recruiting home stretch.
As for the basketball team, we’ll reassess after five victories (two so far).
Michigan has an incredible 44 fourth- and fifth-year players.
Toward the end of the year they were pushing it. The same players were playing all the time. They had peaked.
This is where we are going to see Harbaugh push it into another gear. Competitive and 9-3 may be good enough for some (e.g., yours truly), if one forgets for a moment that two of the three were to Michigan State and Ohio State. For Harbaugh it is not good enough at all and more/constant changes need to be made.
Roster slashing is next. Some familiar names are going to be leaving. When they are gone they are gone.
- Something has to give at running back. Ty Issac, Drake Johnson, and Derrick Green are candidates to leave.
- I believe Shane Morris is out. Will other QBs, Wilton Speight, Zach Gentry, and Alex Malzone, stay?
- Players including Da’Mario Jones, Terry Richardson, Allen Gant, Freddy Canteen, Ross Taylor-Douglas, Reon Dawson, Blake Bars, Jaron Dukes, and Lawrence Marshall are exit candidates. Tom Stobel will also be a 5th year senior.
