Wow. Sometimes it is fun to see if you are right before you read it.
I hope this is about Sarkisian getting back on his feet, not getting anything rectified or winning money.
They are not going to hire him back. He is not going to win the lawsuit or be paid (significant money).
If he is “well enough” to do it, the lawsuit, good, because it will test his ability to really be well and it is his prerogative. If it is the final step in your personal recovery, fine, and you can clear-up things that will get you your next job. That is what I mean by well enough. You can be an alcoholic (or drugs or whatever habits or personal problems went on here) and function perfectly well. Many, many people do it. Maybe you are “well enough.” Maybe you are a completely different person. I don’t care.
That is all it is, this lawsuit. It is the denouement. It is the wrapping-up of an already-over situation. It will not be the climax because it is over. I hope Sarkisian realizes that and it is what the lawsuit is about.
USC has said—it came to a point where another, final decision had to be made—we do not want this in our football coach and that is their prerogative too (assuming they have their ducks in order).
If this is about money-grubbing, or bitching, Sarkisian is going to look even worse. Regarding money, he made a lot, and if he can get it together (or not), he will make even more.
Bragging! Here is just one.
His complaint asks for at least $12.6 million in damages, but Sarkisian's attorney told TMZ.com he will seek more than $30 million. According to the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles, Sarkisian alleges the university fired him without accommodating his efforts to seek treatment for his "disability."
Much of what is stated in the lawsuit filed today by Steve Sarkisian is patently untrue," the statement read. "The record will show that Mr. Sarkisian repeatedly denied to university officials that he had a problem with alcohol, never asked for time off to get help and resisted university efforts to provide him with help. The university made clear in writing that further incidents would result in termination, as it did."
How can you argue with TMZ? Pat Haden is a smart guy. And a shout out to MgoBlog for the frequent education on the disability thing.
Kick.
