The Game

The game was not much of a game.  It was not very close.  And Michigan threw in the towel barely into the fourth quarter.

The near blocked punt represented a little bit of desperation, as did Peppers at running back, and Rudock standing in just too long.  It was as if they knew.  No, they didn’t know and of course they believe they can win.  But it was we have to pull out all the stops, at least.   We can’t just make a few mistakes, overcome them, and win.  We have to push it, and make more mistakes.

Early in the game Michigan was driving and then there were no points.  This has been a trademark of this team and it is a huge turnaround from last year.  But this time it was a big zero and a touchback.  Michigan was playing it field position tight.  They just need to score when they have an opportunity and they can win.

Then came the overaggressive punt return/penalty.  Later there was a similar play, the penalty on another game-changing Jordan Lewis kickoff return.

But really, none of it—a few scores—would have mattered in this game.  The good (on the field) Ohio State team showed-up and it wasn’t even close.  It has to be a coach’s dream:  get a lead and run safe quarterback and running back plays up and down the field, scoring even more, slowly, all game long.  Ohio State was crushing on defense and unstoppable on offense.  It was the “good” Urbz too, the one leading drives and touchdowns as if he was playing in the game.

As for Michigan, they went for it every chance they had.  They all tried.  It just wasn’t to be, this year.
