Probably in Ann Arbor it is an exciting time because Ohio State is in town. Elsewhere, it is dull.
It is hard to believe that the football season could spiral downward that dramatically because of Michigan State. Then, spotting Penn State 14 at Penn State was bound to be a disaster. Wisconsin could have been had, except for a quarterback.
Jake Rudock set the bar high. Now we know that it wasn't close between Wilton Speight and John O'Korn. For some reason the offense doesn't move under O'Korn. "Vision" has been mentioned as a reason and now it is probably nerves too.
If you look to next year (Magnus provided a potential roster recently) it still looks dull. No doubt the offense sometimes shows life under Brandon Peters but an excitable boy he is not. Kekoa Crawford and the speed and excitement of Eddie McDoom and Nate Johnson (gone) has been a myth. DPJ offers a threat... Sean McKeon doesn't really. Karan Higdon (injured) or Ty Isaac (injured) maybe; Kareem Walker and Chris Evans, not so much. Nate Eubanks, Nico Collins, Oliver Martin... Who knows.
The defense. Devin Bush is good and exciting; Levert Hill and David Long are super cornerbacks. Rashan Gary is... no disappointment at all; number one, a leader, and all he does is run all over the field. Maurice Hurst, probably the best player, will be gone. The defense has reloaded, they're very good, but they can't score points and sustain offensive drives, and they don't play exciting throw and catch.
It is disappointing to see time outs, everyone on the same page for a big play, and then nothing. Harbaugh the offensive, full pro playbook innovator hasn't arrived, at least on a level college kids can relate to.
Maybe it is too tense and too complicated. Harbaugh is intense and complicated.
Ohio State can be prone to lapses when not paying attention. The effort will be there against Michigan and it might not be pretty. It could go from dull to ugly
