The Rainbow Warriors did put together one solid drive to close the first half, but an intentional grounding penalty resulted in a 10-second runoff that ended the half before Hawaii could attempt a field goal. (link)
This was when Hawaii was stopped from kicking a field goal.
This is Jim Harbaugh looking up at the scoreboard with 12:43 left in the second quarter. De'Veon Smith had just gone out and Ty Issac looked banged-up too. Chris Evans had already been in the game for a few plays.
Below, Evans' last touchdown run.
They were going to kill them anyway. Michigan played fast and tore-up yardage. But the end of the first half was priceless. One second Hawaii was going to kick a field goal and the next Harbaugh was running off the field.
Hawaii looked exhausted. No, you can't kick a field goal, not here. Harbaugh says no, not even that.
On the play above, and less than two minutes into the next quarter, Chris Evans made it 42-0. That was the dagger.
In the fifteen minutes Evans was in the score went from 14-0 to 42-0.
Elsewhere:
- LSU, Les Miles, and Josh Boutte are big news. Boutte is not the kind of student athlete anyone wants, especially when the team loses. Just like Brady Hoke, Miles is not going to become an offensive coach overnight or ever. It is exhausting, reading about the bar brawls and guns; their fans say just give us wins, and round and round it goes.
- 26 year-old Taysom Hill is still in college and is still the BYU quarterback. Rich Rod and Arizona lost to a team Michigan demolished last year. BYU and coach Bronco Mendenhall looked helpless during that game, last year.
- Mendenhall's new team, Virginia, set records for futility against the Richmond Spiders.
- It is hard to believe anyone, except Alabama, could beat USC 52-6. Texas and Notre Dame had the final visit.
