Penn State in the news

The only thing that is really current newsworthy here is the proliferation of the Joebots.  Still, it is worth remembering.

It is hard to fathom the size and influence of Penn State if not the entire state of Pennsylvania.

PennLive has been on top of this since... apparently there was that one investigative piece by the woman that finally pushed it over the edge.  Most of the comments there are reminiscent of what Germany is finally over--we hate it as much as you do.

Joe Paterno has already been humiliated.  But more facts are always welcome.

The institution that is Pennsylvania has paid something like $133 million to the NCAA and in civil penalties and the actual cost in dollars is probably ten times that.

The trials for Curley and Shultz are still pending.

It was, at the time as close to the death penalty as you could get:  accept it or they'll be worse.

Paterno is of course a pathetic figure.  I'm sure he had many good qualities.  His fatal flaw was that he didn't understand child sexual abuse.

And Sandusky wants a new trial...
