B1G the Week of 150K Covid Cases per Day

As I read once on a Michigan football forum, at least we get to watch Big Ten football.  No question it is a great way to start or spend the weekend, particularly when things begin at 10 AM here in the Rocky Mountain zone.   Throw in snow and a fireplace and it is even better.

We are watching Penn State and Nebraska, online shopping, and writing about that because I do that.  It is commentary on the state of affairs.  Bloggers include screenshots (see above); that is weird, yesterday they were $54.

Maryland-Ohio State is canceled.  There are other games canceled including in the SEC and people everywhere are realizing the difference between games and real life.  Wisconsin is coming off a Covid-induced week off.

The choices today were Indiana-Michigan State, Illinois at Rutgers, and the aforementioned.  Before I get to the game I am watching, I will check in on Sparty and a very good Indiana.  What the Hell, this is the age of streaming video and there is no need for the box score.  My hunch is Indiana is dominating.

Because Michigan State is not good and Michigan lost to them.

Yep.  24 zip.  Enough of that.

The Penn State game is old fashioned, hardnose, Big Ten football.  NOT!  I mean, it is and that is what is a negative about it.  It looks like a bunch of thugs pounding on each other.  When I tuned it in it was something like 27-6 Nebraska.  Wow!  You must be pathetic to losing like that to Scott Frost and Nebraska.  Now it is 27-16.  Old habits.

We get to watch the games.

Penn State football is a lot like Michigan football.  The revenue is huge, the talent is always top ten or fifteen, and the fans are so devoted they are impervious to how dysfunctional they really are.   James Franklin is similar to Jim Harbaugh too.  They both stand on the sideline with the headset mostly by themselves.

The game began for me with "I don't like that, that's a dirty play."  Shortly thereafter a Nebraska player was called for an aggressive helmet to helmet hit against a runner that is still allowed.  Then everyone got to hear that Scott Frost says Nebraska is close.

The story of the game is that Nebraska, playing at home with cornboard fans came out blood/red-juiced and went out to a big lead.  Penn State, with all their talent and coaching and planning, finally started counterpunching.

Penn State is a lot like Michigan.  I'll get to Michigan as the day in football unfolds.  Michigan's games are in the same media space as Nebraska and Penn State.  The once-great Nittany Lions are 0-3 and it is now 30-16 23.  Talk about a hotseat.  It is a good game and I am pulling for Penn State.

The wind is blowing horizontally from right to left.  It is blustery and snowing in Colorado.  It happens.  It is a good time to put something on the big screen.

23 to 7 they just said to start the 4th quarter.  It is engrossing.  There is always a sidenote or storyline:  McCaffrey.  Another one and maybe the last.  Dad Ed, who is not unknown here in Denver, is a candidate for CTE.  What happened to that Nebraska QB who is the best option recruit since sliced bread?  I get it, people are really friendly and downhome, but why would anyone with other choices go to Lincoln, NE?  The only answer unless you are a short tractor or dually ride away is playing time.

If Kwitty Paye is a top pick in the draft I don't even know what time the Michigan game starts.  Chew on that for a while.  Lots of hurries but no sacks, just like the Michigan team.

As for Penn State at Nebraska, it was the battle of the winless losers.  Up next, Michigan.

Ooops, this is the wrong one.

There, that is more like it.

It is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see an empty Michigan stadium and a bad Michigan football program on display.  No Covid reports or excuses here, Wisconsin is always a good team.  Sometimes Michigan creams them; usually, Wisconsin wins.

You are not a media attraction if your game cannot even be found on First Row Sports, VIP Box, and other sports betting supported bootleg sites.  Northwester-Purdue is such a game.  Last year Pat Fitzgerald, he of the Michigan offer, had such breakdowns that I now consider him a mental patient; this year he has supposedly reinvented himself and the team--they are ranked--and the Purdue coach is always a spectacle too.  The are both undefeated.  Michigan is not undefeated and their only win was against a poor Minnesota team.

Colorado is beating Stanford and they look fast and well-coached.  I couldn't tell you who the coach is; he is black, fit, and unlike Mel Tucker he does not look mean.

Still waiting...  You know what they say, you can find anything on the internet.

Florida-Arkansas I will not watch.  Dan Mullen starring in the redneck bowl.  At least he found the perfect fanbase.

Charles Woodson is a whore.  So is Desmond Howard.  This is now the third time I have seen Tim Tebow.  What is the matter with these people?  The production values on their endless commercials are zero.

I remember another post or comment on a Michigan blog.  We will not post or comment on recruiting profiles because it only pampers the spoiled brats consumed only with entitlement, money dreams, and a senseless game that leads to mental and physical debilitation.  (The emphasis is mine.)

Of course Wisconsin is going to take the ball because Don Brown is the defensive coordinator and Vincent Gray and Gemon Green are still playing cornerback.  Mertz--the really good Wisconsin quarterback--is playing.  Paul Chryst has always been an excellent playcaller.  Michigan is going to lose big.

Vincent Gray is doing the pogo and he looks like an idiot.

Piped in crowd noise.  They are all whores.  Jim Harbaugh is a pimp.

Joe Milton is an interception thrower.  Nate Eubanks has hands of concrete.  I'm sorry, if you want to play at Michigan and on ABC in primetime you are going to get it big time.  Throwing that five yard pass was stupid.  Milton looks like a 16-year old rural Florida kid afraid of the headlights.

Michigan is so much like Penn State.  They have opportunity after opportunity.  They always find a way to blow it.  Third and seventeen.  Michigan has had two drives and about 3 yards, plus two interceptions.  Joe Milton sucks.  Perhaps that will be the storyline of this game.  He will throw ten interceptions.

Harbaugh looks intense on the sideline.  He is needed for more than three hours a week.  Overall, he is now a terrible coach.

Jumbo package and it is 14-0.  What a disaster Michigan football is.  The defense will give up 50.  There is no offense if Milton cannot throw it downfield.

All across the country people are saying tune in to watch Michigan and Harbaugh get killed.  They deserve it and it is fun to watch.  This right now is key.  If the team, and if Milton is still in, does not perform right now the game is over and the rest of the night is going to be nothing but pure humiliation.

Any coach, and any team would have a second string and a backup plan.  Milton is still in and it is the same.  Bullshit.  You don't throw the ball right to the linebacker under any circumstances.  Milton, are you OK?  Hello?  Just going through the motions.  Erik All didn't even try to catch it.  And Milton just threw it up with no plan, direction, or hope at all.  It is a stunning example of complete failure.  The first quarter is almost over and Michigan has not made a single play on either offense or defense.  Michigan has 1 total yards on offense.  And no sacks or impressive plays on defense.

Mertz is a quarterback.  Milton is just another player.  The right guard, whoever he is, may as well be playing quarterback.  Please Wisconsin, score a touchdown quickly so we can see the offense fail again.  Wisconsin's offense vs. Michigan's defense is a given in that Michigan cannot stop them.  At least the offense is something of a question mark.  How will they fail next time?

I have not seen one single Michigan player make one single play.  Thankfully there is a commercial.  The coaches are supposed to prepare them.

Giles Jackson sucks also; too many moves and not enough yards.  Milton is in.  All too.  Charbonnet has done nothing.  Michigan is not even trying.

I'm thinking back to the days of Rich Rod and walk on quarterbacks.  I don't think I have ever seen anyone worse than Milton.  He has no leadership skills at all.  He throws the ball and it looks like he isn't trying to complete it and the receiver is not trying to catch it.  Again, they are just going through the motions.

I cannot wait for the postgame because I want to see Harbaugh on camera.  Everyone is sick of his 'we are almost there' routine.

Come on Wisconsin, complete that!  Chryst reads Don Brown like a book.  Michigan "scuffle."  Many Michigan players (Gray for one) have taunted Wisconsin players.  I expect that.  They can't play so they push and shove.  Mertz is just standing there completing passes.  The Michigan D-line mans up but they don't push anyone anywhere.  Who is Turner?  He is a freshman cornerback who just gave up a penalty with an interference call.  Then, Michigan didn't even play; the guy just walked in.  28-0 with no end in sight.

Harbaugh, Brown, and Gattis are powerless.  Feckless is more descriptive.  I see no effort.

Michigan has 6 yards.  Joe Milton looks like he is sleepwalking.  Completed pass for -1 yards.

Missed touchtown pass by Milton and Michigan and Corum.  They just get up and do it again. Reps, reps, reps.  The outcome doesn't matter.  It is OK if you don't get any yards; try it again.  Milton-Corum broken play.

I am watching the Michigan offensive line.  They are the jockiest of the jocks and the guys who walk around campus threatening people.  They are getting out-hustled on every play.  They fall down.  They get sped around.  Michigan has 25 total yards rushing and 50 yards passing (on one play that looked like luck).

There.  One.  The first good play by a Michigan player is by Chris Evans.  Wrong, touchdown taken back.  It doesn't matter:  they are still going to lose in a massive and humiliating way.  The very sad fact is if you are part of this kind of losing effort you are a loser.  You think you are so hot because you are a football player. You are doing something that violent and serves no social or humanitarian purpose and you are terrible at it.  You are so bad that you embarrass the team you play for and all the people and history associated with that organization.  To me that says it is time to move on.  Doing something else is the right thing.

There's the biggest example all:  Ben Mason.  I hope he gets the ball and fumbles.  No, it is Milton and another play where he just goes through the motions and fails.  Thanks for the shutout, Joe.

Wisconsin gets running yards with a surge.  Watch them go 99 yards for a touchdown to end the half.  Third and one.  Michigan with a stop.  Are you kidding?  Easy.

There is no point in doing anything if you don't want to be good at it.  Nice coverage, Gemon. Don't go to school if you don't want to learn.

Fumble.  Vincent Gray is bouncing up and down and he still looks stupid.

A competitive team would score now.  Michigan will find a way to fail.  Losers do that.  I would say the odds are 10% they score now after the turnover at the Wisconsin 47.

I was right!  Michigan blew it without even getting the ball.  Losers!

Julius Welschof is starring on the defensive line for Michigan.  He is another player who doesn't make any plays, he is just out there.

Joe Milton and the explosive Michigan are back.  He is dumb too.  Sack.  Throw it away.  Milton runs only so he can be tackled.  Nice end of half drive.  Sarcasm.  Losers lose.

SECOND HALF

I missed the start.  Michigan scored a field goal.  Apparently Ronnie Bell made a couple of catches and the rest of the Milton threw incompletions.  Did Bell even play in the first half?  I am not a fan of his either.  It seems he shows up for mop-up duty and he does not influence wins.  He is not a go-to receiver.

Milton almost threw two interceptions--one from his own endzone and the other one downfield.  He is 9/19 for 98 yards and (only) 2 interceptions so far.

Brad Hawkins, Gray and others have been too aggressive with out of bounds hits throughout the game.  Again, can't do it on the field you have to find ways to try and prove you are a man.  It is like Mark Dantonio and Michigan State.

They are showing Joe Milton highlights.  There aren't any.

Cade McNamara has been in before.  He looks small with a weak arm.  He also looks like a quarterback.  He stands in the pocket as if he knows what he was doing.  He has a brain.  A quarterback has to play smart--read the defense, make adjustments, etc.  A few nice catches and Michigan scored a quick 8.

Do these players have cognitive abilities?  They are college students.  #28 is Christian Turner, the former running back who cannot hold on to the ball.  How dumb do you have to be to rough the punter.  He is yet another example of players who don't make plays.  Why the f**k is he even on the team if that is what he contributes?

Back to the defense...  Don Brown does not recruit.  He doesn't play a scheme that confuses opponents either.  Why is he a coach for the team?

The Michigan defense is trying.  Big deal and who cares.

Apparently the goals for Michigan were to start fast and not turn the ball over.  Failure.

The Wisconsin runner just ran through about five Michigan defenders for a touchdown.  42-11.

The story of this game is Wisconsin came to play while Michigan, coaches and players, don't give a sh*t.  They are either given a full ride scholarship or they are paid a ton of money, but they are full of it.  My God, have a little pride, if not for yourself, for those you represent.

Watch, after the game Harbaugh will talk about the promise the team shows.

Cade McNamara looks like a quarterback but he throws a lousy pass.  Reload, there's a 5-star still committed, but the Michigan football team under Harbaugh will not change.

42-11.  Why are they still playing?

P.S.  Look how slow Gemon Green is.  The Wisconsin fullback is almost as speedy.  49=11.
