You can decide. The glass is half full or half empty.
Synopsis - The depth and even the recruiting and the budget that goes along with it, is an illusion. Harbaugh is a good coach (of course, based on history), but Ann Arbor is too tough a place and it and he are too demanding. There is too much pressure, the stage is too big (everyone is gunning for Michigan, opponents and a lot of fans), and the expectations are too high.
The days of Brady Hoke were at their worst 6 or 7 years ago. It is not that long ago or hard to remember. There were big, national spotlight games where Michigan absolutely flopped. We're talking negative yardage. Rivals pounced and other opponents were a 50/50 shot; anything over .500 and a bowl was success and potential improvement. It was the low point in several generations.
It pointed out the disparity: How could a program so huge be no better than a random team in Division 1?
More will be written here someday. Maybe. I hope.
