On offense, a behaving Grant Perry is an asset; Kekoa Crawford too is growing by the game and other receivers are certainly in the wings. Donovan Peoples-Jones has shown a lot of moxie in the he
Defense? They may not be the impenetrable force as described after one game and one person (i.e., Don Brown) cannot be that different or great. And they may not be the indigenous players from Michigan and Ohio we're used to seeing either. Devin Bush, Jr. reminds me a little of... Jabrill Peppers. He's just a little outside the Michigan mainstream while right in the middle of the football mainstream. Elysee Mbem-Bosse is another of the many names that come to mind.
It is not my place to judge and it is too early to tell. Pretty clearly, Harbaugh's goal is a NFL factory and the recruits believe it. So far all you can really say is the team lacks the experience and killer mentality of upperclassmen who originated under different leadership.
The fans in attendance came to see a wipe-out and were legitimately surprised or disappointed. It wasn't Roman gladiators with gore or a MMA brawl. It was just a respectful team victory and a good showing by Cincinnati.
Paying fans, especially there, should of course do whatever they want (and that is legal and/or what they can get away with). But blog observers? Maybe get a grip. Chill.
P.S. I'm tempted to... You want to be professional football players? Here's a list of players who screwed-up pretty good. There are quite a few names. Still, there's no reason for that.
P.P.S. The two Michigan things I tend to read are Brian Cook and Magnus; Maize 'n Brew, etc., I wish I knew more about good, experienced writers. Touch the Banner just continues to dump on Speight; Mgoblog today described him as "killing your team." It is completely wrong. As for the it's just a game, there was some drama--Harbaugh loves it, he thrives on it--but it was a rather easy win.
