Is Jim Harbaugh a bad guy?

The scrutiny and self-made publicity is dangerous yet effective.  To a point.  Will there come a time when he becomes more irritating?  Probably.

I don't want to watch the Wilton Speight video because I'm pretty sure I won't like it.  The transcription seems as though it could go either way.  Was Harbaugh pushing him out?  Was he threatening to revoke his scholarship or kick him off the team?  He has the power.  On the other hand, whining to mom and dad and threatening to transfer because there are better quarterbacks on the roster is crummy too.

It probably boils down to whether or not it is abuse.  It is murky.   Abuse is a term that is thrown around a lot these days, especially with words like sexual and domestic.  Coaches, not ones as powerful as Jim Harbaugh, have been fired for it. It is not to say he is in danger of anything, it is just that, apparently there are a lot of people who don't like him.

It is becoming apparent awfully fast that players can't say they didn't know what they are signing-up for.  Harbaugh is so incredibly transparent that you definitely know what you are getting.  There is not much to any argument that you don't want him as your coach.  The criticisms are more like baseless jokes--they just aren't there.

Probably the most common and almost-legitimate criticism of Harbaugh right now is running up the score, such as leaving starters in and aggressive play-calling.  It is true that Michigan has dominated, or real close, every team they have played this year.  Many games have been decided by the end of the first quarter.  I remember the game David Dawson and Michael Onwenu were playing defensive tackle; witness especially all the freshmen who have played--here has been lots of effort to play others, but the starters need to play too.  RE play-calling, they want to keep it aggressive, fun, and varied.  You can't just not play; someone will get hurt, or worse, on both teams.

Overall, they're playing for the post-season and more.  Part of being ready at that time is having lots of weapons.

Will there come a time when the wins don't outweigh things like power, salary, and controversy?

There are lists circulating about what is annoying about Harbaugh, some more about how he is competitive.  A mention on The Simpsons is more and current evidence of his wide reach.

Trick or treating on Halloween...  is not a competitive exercise.

Dating his current wife, after meeting her in a restaurant and calling her nine times, is weird.

His compensation, power, and constant hiring of more staff is too much for a football coach.  Lack of decorum, if you will, or ego restraint...  I don't know.

How likely is Harbaugh to be fired or leave voluntarily?  Zero right now.  Or, the other way around, he will stay for infinity.

Is he a bad guy?  1 on a 1-10 scale.  It is barely audible but there is an oink there.  At times somewhat irritating...  is not a sentence.
