Anyway, something different about Jim Harbaugh is his love of competition. People say it, but he really lives it. He has made it real. People around him recognize it and, surprise, surprise, college football players believe it and follow it. The players, virtually all of whom are former high school stars and good students, are motivated individuals. Harbaugh brings competitive zeal to life and he brings it out in them. Combine that, into a team, and it is a powerful force. Finally, add in that Harbaugh was an offensive leader (quarterback) and is now an experienced head coach (surrounded by top-flight assistants).
These last two, offensive leadership and experience, can perhaps be found elsewhere. The ability to instill such a competitive fire is very rare.
