The stadium looked beautiful, but it was also about half empty. There seems to be a lot of flag-waving and… fields. What kind of fields are there in central Indiana? Bloomington never really took off as a hip college town, or let’s just put it this way, football Saturday is not the thing. Yellow Pages ads while Michigan is kicking a field goal? Too bad, because Indiana played a heck of a game. (Others’ travelogues.)
Kevin Wilson showed the personality of a good coach—confident, in charge, and his team obeyed and responded.
But there was more good than there was bad and ugly. So we'll regroup, retool and refit. (Harbaugh)
Michigan still has a lot to play for this season!
Those of us who follow Michigan football know Ryan Glasgow is a top college nose tackle. He and others could be early NFL candidates. Wormley, Henry, Hurst, Charlton, Godin, and Jenkins-Stone played long and hard. Rashan Gary for the future?
There is something weird about playing receiver for Michigan. Jehu Chesson and Amara Darboh are doing it all, but it took them years. Jones, Dukes, Cole, Harris, Canteen, and Perry are no-shows. Maurice Ways has played and shows up in blocking highlights, but we have not seen hands or moves. Obviously this was not Hoke’s forte’; maybe it has something to do with the word “athlete.” Same with the running backs, they are good, but they are not the fastest or most versatile.
Tom Strobel played on the D line; an injured Dymonte Thomas came in for the injured Jarrod Wilson; and Delano Hill, who did not start, made the game-winning play.
Coach example du jour.
Tracy Claeys should learn not to say those things. Nasty, but this is the place for it: Minnesota may be trading one health problem for another.
We’re seeing it in coaching all over. You could be fired for being a dick (Bo Pelini) or hired for being a nice guy (his replacement). Maybe you are loyal like Tracy Claeys but you sure better find a way to win. Jerry Kill was pretty good but for most of us he did not represent the end-all. Claeys, you better find a way to do it your way and you are off to a lousy start.
This one, hiring Claeys at Minnesota, is annoying because they are also saying they are not even going to try to find—or pay for—a better coach.
A smart coach, upon being hired might say to himself ‘I have 30 games and we need to win half of them. Being a league doormat isn’t going to work either.’
“No more being close.” No this is not Touch the Banner. Cute woman.
